Fiesta Pensacola's Foundation Board of Directors has voted to extend its pledged support to the University of West Florida Historic Trust recently with an additional $10,000 commitment to help produce a new exhibit at the Pensacola Museum of History. This partnership is the latest installment of many years of continued support pledged by Fiesta to the UWF Historic Trust, including the museum outdoor lighting project (see https://www.fiestapensacola.org/post/fiesta-gives-back) and the more recent $75,000 pledge in celebration of Fiesta's 75th Anniversary in 2024.
In commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution, America250, Fiesta will join forces with the UWFHT and Visit Pensacola in funding the production of a new 2,000 square foot exhibit on the 3rd floor of the Pensacola Museum of History. The exhibit entitled "Road to Revolution" will tell the story of America's fight for independence and commemorate the integral role Northwest Florida played in the American Revolution. Alongside partners such as the UWF Archaeology Institute and the Florida Public Archaeology Network, rare documentary artifacts, objects from the vast collection of the UWF Historic Trust and loaned materials from around the world will highlight the story of Pensacola in our Nations's founding. By exploring these rarely seen artifacts and firsthand accounts, visitors will gain insight into the vital role Florida played in the broader struggle for liberty, often overlooked in traditional narratives. This exhibit will challenge assumptions and ensure Pensacola claims its rightful place in the founding story of the United States.
