Fiesta Pensacola Foundation Continues Support of Historic Pensacola
This week, Fiesta Pensacola Foundation made their final payment on their $125,000 pledge to the University of West Florida Historic Trust.
Thanks to the organization’s generous donation, the T.T. Wentworth, Jr. Florida State Museum in downtown Pensacola now features special LED lighting and projectors that illuminate the historic building each night. The T.T. Wentworth Museum sits in front of the Museum Plaza green space, the newest addition to the Trust’s growing downtown footprint.
The UWF Historic Trust Executive Director Rob Overton said updates have made the museum a vibrant focal point of our city. “When you look at our total property, we needed to identify a front door,” he said. “The museum is now the clear entry point to Historic Pensacola. The lighting enhancements highlight the architectural elements of this iconic building and liven up the space at night.”
Fiesta Pensacola Executive Director, Bridget Middleton, said the connection between the Historic Trust and Fiesta of Five Flags is a clear one. “Fiesta’s mission is to celebrate our heritage, promote tourism and build pride in Pensacola. Through our partnership with the UWF Historic Trust, we have been able to contribute to the growing cultural tourism in downtown Pensacola. This lighting project is one way for Fiesta to share the rich history of our wonderful city”
